Start-Up Visa
Start-Up Visa is mainly for entrepreneurs who have innovative idea and plan to start a business in Canada. They can obtain work permit and apply for permanent resident status through the establishment and settlement period.
Brief Introduction of Start-Up Visa:
1. The Start-Up Visa can be traced back to April 2013, and was switched from a five-year pilot program to a permanent program in April 2018.
2. The Start-Up Visa is for innovative entrepreneurs who intend to establish business and create jobs in Canada.
3. The program mainly focuses on the completeness and authenticity of the business plans
4. The applicant can apply for a work permit after obtaining a letter of support from the designated organization
Who can apply
1. Each application can be jointly applied by up to 5 owners - at least 10% of the voting rights attached to all shares of the corporation, or the applicants and the designated organization jointly own more than 50% of the total voting rights
2. You must get a letter of support of a designated organization (a business group that has been approved to invest in or support possible start-ups), including a designated and investor group or venture capital fund or business incubator
Minimum financial commitment of $200,000 from venture capital fund or $75,000 from angel investor, or acceptance into a business incubator program, or no limit on the amount of investment obtained from incubator institutions.
3. Minimum language requirements of CLB 5 in English or French
4. Proof of sufficient settlement fund to support you and your family living in Canada
Advantages of Start-Up Visa program:
1. There are no special requirements for business and no restrictions on business activities
2. There is no minimum investment requirement for the applicant
3. There are no requirements for the net assets value of the applicant
4. You can get a temporary work permit to establish and operate your business while waiting for permanent resident application.

Government application fee: $1575 immigration application fee, $500 permanent resident rights fee (principal applicant, spouse), $1325 spouse application fee, $225 immigration application fee (each child aged 22 and below, if applicable), $85 (or $170 per family) biometrics information collection fee.
Other expenses: medical examination, document translation expenses, mailing expenses, no crime record certificate, etc.
